Watchers

  • Mood: Obsessed
  • Watching: The Godfather
This goes out to all my favorite portrayals of Sherlock Holmes: Basil Rathbone, Jeremy Brett, George C Scott, Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch, and even Wishbone and the great mouse detective Basil of Baker Street. =P   There are plenty others that i know i'm forgetting, but those are the main ones that stand out.

I've loved the detective since i first saw my first version of 'Baskervilles' way back in the day when mom would watch 'Masterpiece Theatre' as it was hosted by Dianna Rigg (if you know what i'm talking about then you're just as nerdy as i am, lol).  This carried through all the stories/books, the radio dramas from the 30's, and every movie version i could get my hands on.

'Course it's weird seeing the character everywhere now that there are new movies and a tv show on BBC, but you wont catch me complaining, lol.  I thought i was obsessed with the character before, man, i had no idea how good it could get.

The finale of season 2 of 'Sherlock' premiering here in the US last night prompted me to acknowledge how awesome it is that the character is in the limelight in such a big way.  And to say that i have little to no faith in the American adaptation for TV that is in the works right now.  I'm willing to be proven wrong, but don't see that happening.

So i have been and will remain 'Sherlocked' =D

i've seen the original show from the 60s and love it. staying as far away from burton's movie as i can, he ruined it and i'm not going to forgive him for it

lol, burton's been messing up stuff i love for a long time now, this is just the last straw. he started out saying he would make it for the fans, then as time drew closer he said fans would probably be mad. the movie can use the same locations and names, but it's far from being anywhere close to 'dark shadows'.
